I’ve always thought this soulful Ballad is one of Billie Holiday’s best.
I Remember You
This Swing tune illustrates the fabulous lyric writing of Johnny Mercer.
Two Spirit Jazz (Suzanne and Theresa) enjoy the opportunity to record and always consider it a blast working with other musicians. In these sessions we chose three of our favorite Jazz Standards: a Cole Porter tune, I’ve Got You Under My Skin; a Billie Holiday tune, Don’t Explain; and, a Johnny Mercer/Victor Schertzinger tune, I Remember You. In these recordings you’ll hear a Bossa Nova, a Ballad, and an Swing.
On these recordings Suzanne sings and plays acoustic guitar. Theresa plays Gretsh drums. We were delighted to have Hank Hirsch play upright bass, and Gary Harris play saxophone. Also, we’d like to thank Bjoy McGinnis for all her production work, and hospitality in the studio. Thank you Hank, Gary, and Joy.
The time and energy spent in recording this demo lent itself to much learning for us in the high art of Jazz Music.
